Illusion Island Dizzy

Illusion Island Dizzy is a Dizzy fangame, made with the Dizzy AGE engine by Jamie Douglas. It won second place in the Dizzy AGE Easter Competition 2009.

In the game, Dizzy and the rest of the Yolkfolk decide to go on holiday and sail to Illusion Island. However, Dizzy is separated from the rest of the Yolkfolk during a pirate attack. He swims the remaining distance to Illusion Island and discovers that many things are not what they seem. He meets illusory opposites of his family (for example, "gray Denzil" only likes classical music, "gray Dora" only eats junk food and "gray Dylan" hates all greenery) and needs to find his real family and leave the island with them.

The game has a mysterious, somewhat uneasy mood and is one of the largest Dizzy games ever made. Even for a player who has played this game before and knows how to solve all puzzles, a full playthrough takes about five hours. According to the author, it has 308 "rooms" (understood as any screen, regardless of whether it's indoor or outdoor).

Like most Dizzy games, it is a combination of an inventory-puzzle adventure game and a platformer, however this particular game also includes elements of a trading simulation. Some items are found lying about, but some need to be bought from the shopkeeper and Dizzy also needs to pay a few other characters for some help. Dizzy can make money in three ways: by collecting coins lying about (there are 100 in the game, many of them are hidden), by selling items he doesn't need or no longer needs, or by playing mini-games on the arcade machine. He needs to insert some coins to be able to play the mini-games and gets one "real" in-game coin for every five coins won in a mini-game. However, to prevent himself from running out of money, he should get the arcade machine running as soon as possible after gaining access to both the shopkeeper and the cave with the arcade machine because the machine's plug is found, but the game CD is one of the items he needs to buy.
