Iron Maiden: The Final Frontier
Description
Iron Maiden: The Final Frontier was released to promote Iron Maiden's 2010 homonymous album. While travelling in space for their first intergalactic gig, Iron Maiden spaceship was attacked by space pirates. The band escaped, but the cargo ship was destroyed, scattering the band's gear around the solar system. As Eddie, the band's mascot, players must salvage the equipment.
The game is a cave-flyer variant. Players must navigate the ship with the arrow keys, while avoiding hitting the obstacles and walls of the stages. The ship is pulled down by gravity so players must also avoid hitting the ground. Fuel is used to keep the ship moving and is limited, so players must manage to collect all gear pieces before the fuel runs out. Once a gear piece is found it must be collected with a grappling hook and delivered to the cargo ship. Pirates will attack the ship and can be destroyed using weapons. Up to four different weapons can be alternately used. The ship is instantaneously destroyed if it hits a wall, but can absorb damage taken from enemy shots with its limited shield. Shield and fuel power-ups can be found scattered around stages. A map of the stage can be used to better navigate it.
The game has a total of five missions. Each mission has two bonus letters to be picked up (all of them forming "Iron Maiden"). Collecting both unlocks an Iron Maiden wallpaper.
