King's Quest: Chapter V - The Good Knight
Description
The final chapter in the resurrected King's Quest game features the now old King Graham as the protagonist that mostly tells stories of his past adventures to his granddaughter Gwendolyn, and the players get to play only during those flashbacks. In this chapter we find out why the good king is dying, and play through his final adventure he had to undergo as an old man. In this chapter, his long confrontation with Manny, a goblin who wanted to prove he can be more intelligent than a human, is finally brought to an end.
The king is not feeling well and his memory is playing tricks on him which can be felt throughout his storytelling - where now many areas may change as he remembers it. Sometimes even he does not remember, often prompting the player to remember something in one way then later remember it in another, in order to solve the puzzle at hand.
While in the present King Graham is struggling with his wish to undertake yet another quest, in the story he struggles with his memory and gets to face Manny in a six puzzle challenge on a floating island. As Graham's strength is at an end, the final part of storytelling is done by Gwendolyn, whom player gets to control briefly at the end - which leaves with a cliffhanger showing her excited face after looking upon the magical mirror. Her adventure follows in the epilogue.
