Moon Hunters

Description
Moon Hunters is a single-player and multiplayer cooperative action role-playing game. The story begins in a world where the Moon, a divine figure worshipped by several cultures, mysteriously fails to rise. The player takes on the role of a hero chosen to uncover the cause of this disappearance. Across a series of short in-game days, the hero journeys through hostile regions, confronts threats, and builds a reputation that will define how they are remembered after death. Each playthrough represents a legend retold, and the deeds of the hero contribute to the mythos that grows across multiple generations.
Gameplay is presented through top-down action combat mixed with exploration. Players choose from a roster of character classes, each with unique abilities and combat styles such as ranged magic, melee attacks, or area-control skills. Combat emphasizes quick reflexes, dodging, and cooperative synergy when playing with others. Progress occurs over short campaigns lasting roughly an hour, with randomized maps ensuring variation in encounters and events.
As characters progress, they gain new abilities and equipment through exploration, quest completion, and resource gathering. Villages act as temporary hubs where players can interact with locals, purchase items, and influence their reputation through dialogue and choices. Reputation acts as the primary progression system, determining how the hero is perceived and what legacy they leave behind.
Dialogue choices influence character personality traits, which in turn affect interactions with NPCs and long-term reputation. Multiple cultures and deities appear throughout the world, and siding with or defying them alters available quests and story outcomes. Minigame-like activities such as cooking combine ingredients gathered in the field, granting buffs and bonuses for future encounters.
Repetition across multiple campaigns is a core design, with each playthrough adding to a constellation map that records the legends of past heroes. Cooperative multiplayer allows up to four players to contribute simultaneously to the shared story, shaping a collective mythology rather than just an individual legacy.
