Game cover: Pollution Control

Description

Pollution Control is an educational strategy game for the Apple II.

The great port city of Misery urgently requests your help. Its waters have become too polluted to swim in. Fish are dying. Many dead birds can be found amongst the rubbish and oil which cover the beaches. Inland, Lake Tranquility has become clogged with weeds and algae. Above the city, soot and smog obscure the sun, and when the rain falls, it is not clear and clean, but has a dirty taste to it.

You have been appointed the the newly formed Pollution Patrol, and will be responsible for Misery's problems. You will first have to find the causes of the pollution. Then you must suggest ways of cleaning up the water, the air, and the land.

The player is tasked with trying to reduce the air, land, and water pollution of the city of Misery. While doing this, they must carefully balance loss of jobs and a limited supply of money. The player has a number of option including banning, building, closing, fining, installing, and many other processes for cleaning up the city. Some options will worsen the city's pollution or waste money and jobs.
