Description

Project Silverfish is a first-person immersive simulation game with open-world and shooter elements. Set in a post-human future, players explore a vast and dangerous exclusion zone filled with anomalies, mutants, powerful artifacts, and secrets. The game has a non-linear systems-driven design, flexible player choice, and environmental storytelling.

Players assume the role of an "Inheritor"—a sentient, anthropomorphic survivor in a world where humanity has gone extinct. The game invites exploration of a sprawling, mysterious zone shaped by Cold War-era experiments and phenomena. Through investigation and combat, players work to uncover the lost history of humanity and the origins of the anomalies that still haunt the land. The game is influenced by the immersive sim genre, offering no scripted solutions or linear paths. Instead, players are encouraged to solve problems creatively, using a range of tools, weapons, and abilities.

Gameplay emphasizes exploration, choice, and survival. Players can select from six distinct pre-built classes or create a custom build with a wide array of perks and rule sets, allowing for a unique playthrough each time. A central feature of the game is the presence of contracts and missions, which involve gathering clues, solving mysteries, and making key decisions that can shape both story and gameplay outcomes.

Combat is designed to be tense and reactive. Players face hostile creatures and navigate dangerous anomalies using a combination of ranged weapons, environmental tools, and rare artifacts that provide passive bonuses or magical-like powers when charged with a resource called Eather. Some artifacts can even be transformed into exotic weaponry, further enhancing strategic options.

The exclusion zone is populated by multiple factions, each with its own ideology, goals, and methods. Players can choose to ally with, oppose, or ignore these groups depending on their approach. These factions dynamically interact with the player and with each other, creating a fluid and unpredictable world state.

Visually, the game features atmospheric environments inspired by Soviet-era architecture, abandoned research facilities, and natural landscapes overtaken by the unnatural. The aesthetic, combined with the game’s emphasis on mystery and survival, has drawn comparisons to titles such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl and the Far Cry series, while its emergent gameplay and choice-driven structure place it firmly within the immersive sim tradition.
