Project: X Insurrection

Project: X Insurrection is a first-person shooter and a total conversion of Wolfenstein 3D, but it is standalone and does not require the original game to play. The story takes place in a fantasy version of our world where there was a war between humans and vampires. After the defeat of vampire leader Dracula, a coalition was formed between the two races. The protagonist Rain is a member of the coalition. Despite the peace vampires still suffer threats and attacks, so some of them decide to build their own city, the Abyss. The coalition leader Thomas sends Rain and his brother Alucard on a secret mission to investigate an unusual energy spike in China. It is revealed China has been engineering its own breed of Neo-Vampires as an army. Alucard and Rain are ambushed during the mission and that is when the game starts.

The game consists of six chapters with 66 levels in total. Controls are fairly similar to the original game. Most of the enemies consist of Neo-Vampires and demons in a contemporary environment. There are fourteen different weapons with a lot of modern guns. Levels contain secrets, gems that increase a score, health and armor. There are often puzzle elements involving buttons or keys. Many levels contain logs that provide lore about the world. The game displays an automap as part of the HUD, except on the highest difficulty. Some levels have optional weapon zoom.
