Space Hopper

Space Hopper is a 1-player arcade game for the VIC-20.

Lost in a space warp in the 21st century, the player is a Space Frog with an abundant will to survive, up against what seems at times to be unfair opposition. The player's only defence is their ability to run. The player's goal is to reach the end of the space warp at the top of the screen.

The player can move left, right, and forwards. They cannot move backwards as they would fall down a black hole. The player cannot make contact with the edge of the screen or the Space Mobiles which move laterally across the screen. Danger lanes are located below the two lanes that contain a single space, and if the player stays too long in this lane they are shot by lasers. The player is awarded points for moving forwards, and receives a bonus upon reaching the top of the screen, and restarts the level. A free Space Frog is awarded every 5000 points.
