System Training Project
Description
System Training Project was a training computer constructed for the US Air Force that allowed users to train for operating Air Defense Direction Centers (ADCCs). ADCCs were centres where radar data on incoming aircraft was to be processed. The simulator was an almost complete replica of the actual system.
The user's task is to identify, pinpoint, and interdict. Instead of a display the computer used an IBM 407 printer to make a new print-out of the radar image each time it changed. The computer was later upgraded to include a film camera and CRT screen to display the information. A human team was required to administer the exercise and interpret the results.
