Description
Eight months after the first Tantei Kibukawa Ryōsuke Jikentan game, a new online game has caught on: "Misty Online", an MMO adventure game, in which players collaborate to solve mysteries in a world that resembles a real city. Screenwriter Masao Ikurumi receives an invitation to the network test, and so he teams up with Izuna Sagishimai of the Kibukawa detective agency to solve an in-game murder mystery. When the player taking on the role of the victim fails to show up, however, Ikurumi and Sagishimai realize that the in-game mysteries only the tip of the iceberg and something sinister is going on in the real world. And so the masquerade lullaby begins...
Like previous games in the series, Kamen Gen'ei Satsujin Jiken is a menu-driven adventure game with a heavy focus on dialogue and storytelling. This is the first game in the series to feature updated, more detailed character art and backgrounds in a new style. Future games in the series used a similar presentation. This is also the only game in the series not to have been released as a mobile app first: it originated as a DS game, but this version features a presentation much more like the rest of the series.
