Description

Tenka Fubu: Eiyū-tachi no Hōkō is a historical simulation game set in the 16th-century Warring States period of Japanese history. It includes four scenarios taking place between 1555 and 1600, including the Honnoji Incident and the Battle of Sekigahara, plus an additional fifth scenario in the Super Famicom version. The player selects a scenario and a daimyo (warlord) to play as — all historical figures such as Oda Nobunaga and Uesugi Kenshin — and play continues until either the win or lose conditions are met, or the player's daimyo is killed without an heir.

The game is turn-based, with each turn representing one season, and thus four turns per in-game year. Each turn consists of four phases: an "event phase", in which various events based on the season, year, and other factors can occur; a "preparation phase" in which various actions can be taken regarding the player's armies, territories, and subordinates, such as assigning troops to different regions and proposing alliances with other daimyo; a "strategy phase" in which the player determines attack and defense actions for that turn; and a "battle phase" in which all daimyo's planned actions for that turn play out and the results are shown to the player. After each turn the player has the opportunity to save the game, and then the next turn begins.
