The Echo Initiative

The Echo Initiative is a puzzle game, minimal both in presentation and interaction. Players are tasked to recharge a space probe and use limited control panels to search for lifeforms in outer space.

The gameplay consists of the player exploring the controls and trying to figure out how to progress, with no punishing elements, besides having to wait for the probe to rotate or finish its operations. The movement controls allow combining three trajectories and three acceleration speeds. One button scans for life, with the result apparently randomly depending on the current movement. The pacing is slowed and made irregular through the rotation of the probe and thus access to the panels, as well as the need to collect solar energy, as each action consumes one of five charges.

A final discovery leads through an unknown portal, and then back to the title screen.
