The Great Gatsby

Game cover: The Great Gatsby

Description

The Great Gatsby is a game based on the book of the same name, it features spoken extracts taken directly from the text.

At it's heart this is a hidden object game with a list of objects to be found in each scene, but there are awards to be gained for completing side quests which give the player trophies and additional points.

For example in each scene there are also hidden letters which spell a mystery word, the player can find all the letters or, for bonus points and with just some of the letters in place, they can make a guess. Another side objective which starts a couple of scenes into the game is to look for a hidden book in each scene, when found these go into the library. There are also optional interactive puzzles, usually these are offered when all the objects in a scene have been found, which earn yet more points - the first of these is to find all the components needed to mix four dry martinis, shake them together and then serve with an olive in each.

During the hidden object scenes the characters come and go and speak lines from the book but otherwise do not interact with the player. Between the hidden object puzzles are transition sequences where a longer extract of the story is read. During these sequences, which can be replayed many times, the player is tasked with finding more hidden objects such as five stars or five clocks - a task made harder as the view scrolls across a large background picture meaning objects can be missed - again these objectives earn more points and are optional.

The player uses the points earned to purchase goodies to furnish their library, they can put artwork on the walls, decorate the place with plants, buy additional lighting and even buy a pet.

The game has voice acting, music and sound effects, it runs directly from the disc and can be played in either full screen or windowed mode.
