The Sea Eternal

In this choice-based game, players slip on the fins of immortal merfolk, charged to defend their sperm whale benefactors against the alien ravages of a squid hivemind. All other concerns are secondary in this hidden underwater society, so the status quo is shaken up when a returning hero, triumphant against a traitor who jeopardized the grand alliance, returns from topside with a powerful magical talisman -- the key to the whale-endowed immortality, stolen by the traitor -- and also... a lovesick human who can never be permitted to return home.

As the player's character is no stranger to such conundrums, the matter is brought to them. While orienting the new human to this strange new world, a chance encounter provides a revelatory re-evaluation into the nature of the eternal enemy. The stage thus set, a series of seemingly simple choices lead to cascades of critical consequences to this vassal society, exploring matters of freedom and loyalty, selfhood and memory, genocide and ethics.
