Us & Them: Cold War
Description
Us & Them: Cold War is a strategy game set in the period of the Cold War.
The game starts on January 1st 1960 and uses a world map of countries as they were at that time, every game turn represents one month of game time. There are two campaigns, the Communist campaign and the Capitalist campaign. The player does not use force to invade and attack other countries, although military intervention to prevent a revolution in a friendly country is an option. Instead they develop networks of spies and special agents to gather intelligence, bribe, seduce, assassinate and sabotage countries destabilising them so that they switch allegiance and come over to their power bloc.
Each bloc has heroes, based on real life characters, whose influence can sway the masses. The Communist bloc starts with Ernesto “Che” Guevara, Mao Ze Dong and Fidel Castro while the Capitalist bloc starts with John Edgar Hoover, Henry Kissinger and the Pope, more heroes appear as the game progresses. The game also bases random in-game events things that actually happened.
