Valorant

Game cover: Valorant

Description

Valorant is an objective based online multiplayer game where two teams of five players face each other in a series of rounds, switching roles as defending and attacking teams around planting and defusing a bomb called the "spike", similar to the gameplay of Counter-Strike. The first team to win thirteen rounds, wins the match. The game rewards precise accuracy and fast reflexes, team work and a tactical approach. The defending team also wins the round if 100 seconds pass without a successful plant by the attacking team.

Players choose a character called an "agent" each with unique abilities and access to special attacks. Certain characters can for instance launch a smoke screen, detect enemies through walls, launch a bot or a spycam, teleport, resurrect, deploy lava and toxic pools or launch an orbital strike in the vein of Overwatch. The game uses an economy system where earnings called credits carried over between rounds are used to purchase abilities and weapons at the start of a round. There is an overall ranking system with multiple tiers, similar to the one used in League of Legends by the same developer.

The game is free-to-play with a commercial, optional system of in-game purchases through battle passes and points used to purchase skins and cosmetic enhancements.
