Volcanoes

Volcanoes is a 2 - 4 player educational volcanology game for the Apple II.

It is the year 1990, and there are multiple active volcanoes in the region of Wrangelia. Each player is responsible for their own volcanology team in one of four regions, and must study and predict the risk of eruption in their area. There are 3 levels of difficulty. Each team starts with $300,000, and can spend money on an infrared satellite scan of an area, seismic survey of a volcano, electrical conductivity near a volcano, tiltmeter survey of a volcano, gas analyses for a specific volcano, or the ages of rocks from a volcano. The player must set the risk of eruption of the 10 volcanoes in the region from 1 - 5 based upon the information gathered. By setting the correct risk level the player can avoid loss of life and property, which increases their skill level.
