War for the Overworld
Description
War for the Overworld is a spiritual successor to Bullfrog's Dungeon Keeper series from the nineties. The concept is largely similar as it is a blend of real-time strategy, god game, first-person action and role-playing in a fantasy setting. You are an Underlord, an evil etheral lord of the Underworld. After a long exile in the void you wake up in a world where the Empire (the 'Good Guys') is ruling, while the Underlords are fighting each other in the Underworld.
You have to restore your realm and your powers and build new dungeons for your minions, while resisting the Empire's forces. As an ethereal power, you cannot physically act in the real world. Your ethereal hand can trace zones to dig or to build rooms, cast spells, or seize units to drag them in a specific room. You need gold to build rooms or to pay your creatures and if you do not produce food, they will starve and revolt.
Each room attracts a different type of creature and allows for further development of the dungeon. Barracks train creatures, a library allows for research with new rooms, spells, traps ..., a foundry lets you build defences and so on.
The game contains a solo campaign of ten scenarios, two solo sandbox maps, three solo scenario maps and 36 solo/multiplayer skirmish maps. Multiplayer is supported both through local LAN and online.
