Werewolf!! Or is it Vampire? - Or is it Something Else? is an adventure game with arcade elements for the Apple II.

Except for the Main Hall, Orloff Castle lies in ruins above ground, but in the dungeons, Dr. Orloff and his band of merry monsters are using science and black magic to awaken the sleeping Asmodeus, Lord of the Underworld. A volunteer is needed to enter the castle, locate the mad Doctor, and in some way persuade him to cease his evil activities.

The players moves between rooms in an arcade mode, where the player can jump, reverse direction, walk, or run across the screen. The player walks around all four sides of a room, and can enter doors between areas, find clues, and be chased or fight with monsters. As the player explores, they find a number of text sequences, which represent adventure elements. The player can find or use items, and solve puzzles at these areas. The player can carry a total of five items at a time. Keys are required to open locked doors, and a source of light is needed in dark rooms.

There are three levels of difficulty player, and if the player alerts the area's guardian, they are relentlessly chased by the enemy. The player has limited energy, which is lost by enemy encounters. Where the player completes all puzzles on a dungeon level they move deeper down.
