Woody Poco
Description
In Woody Poco, players take on the role of a wooden doll that was transformed into a human by a fairy, but at some point somehow reverted back to doll form. Now Poco goes on an adventure to find the fairy and figure out what happened.
Poco travels through six themed stages with those being Spring, Summer, Autumn, Winter, Amusement Park, and Castle. Throughout these stages Poco battles enemies. Poco's health will increase after a certain number of enemies are defeated.
Poco attacks enemies with items held in his right hand and can carry non weapon items like lanterns in his left. Poco starts out with only being able to hold a small number of items in his inventory, but can increase that number with items like backpacks.
Shopping for items is a major component of the game. The game features a day/night cycle with shops closing at night. Money is generally scarce in this game. Gambling on a slot machines or pawning off items to shops are a few ways to earn money. Stealing items from shops is another way around this money issue, although doing this will label Poco a thief and prevent him from purchasing from any shops until he gets the thief label removed.
The Famicom version, while based on the original computer versions, has some unique properties. The stages are laid out differently and Poco now has the ability to jump. Also, there is the additional option of playing as a female Poco, which acts as an easy difficulty level option of a sort. The female gets more hints from villagers and all items in shops are half-priced for her.
