WWII Carrier Ops

WWII Carrier Operations is an add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator 2002 and Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004. The product offers the player two types of installation for each simulation, one with realistic flight dynamics or one with simplified flight dynamics. In real life the aircraft carriers had to steam into the wind to assist fully laden craft in their take-off. The supplied manual contains instructions on how the aircraft configuration files can be edited to simulate such take-offs realistically when used in conjunction with appropriate weather settings within the simulator.

This add-on makes the aircraft carrier the USS Enterprise CV-6 and the following aircraft:

• Grumman TBF-1C Avenger
• Grumman F6F-5 Hellcat
• Grumman F4F-4 Wildcat
• Douglas SBD-3 Dauntless
• Vought F4U-1A Corsair

These planes all have opening canopies and, where appropriate, they have folding wings, opening & closing cowling flaps, and weapons effects. The USS Enterprise also has AI traffic, other aircraft that taxi on deck, take-off and land but this is only available when used in conjunction with Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004.

In order for the arrestor cables to function the product installs the utility ArrestorCables (ArrCab) Version 2.5. This must be present, running in the background, before the flight simulator is loaded.
