X-Laser

X-Laser is a Dutch language vertical shooter for a single player. You are the pilot of the Netherland's latest experimental combat plane, the C3-XP, which is armed with X-Laser. The titular X-Laser is a newly developed and highly advanced weapon whose firepower is unmatched. In a dramatic twist of fate, during one of your training sessions, an aerial invasion against your homeland begins, by a vast number of UFOs. Immediately, you set off to try out your high-tech weapon and clear the threat!

The player's aircraft faces towards the top of the screen. Enemy vessels appear one at a time and once shot down, another one takes its place. Enemies perform semi-random maneuvers and if they line up to the player's aircraft, will fire a shot against it. One notable feature of your own combat plane is the ability to shoot behind you as well, if an enemy happens to be there. You start with a limited amount of shots for your weapon, but you receive two additional shots for each UFO you destroy. With careful shooting, a player can build up a sizable supply of shots this way. Occasionally, the game will spawn ammo or energy pickups to replenish your depleting gauges, if you pick them up before they scroll off the screen. There are no levels or an ending to the game, instead the session goes on until you run out of ammo or sustain too much damage. A high score table is kept for top-scoring players.
