Yamamura Misa Suspense: Kyōto Ryū no Tera Satsujin Jiken
Description
The first video game based on mystery author Misa Yamamura's Catherine book series is a typical Japanese-style adventure game with a murder mystery narrative. You play as a game developer on a hanami trip at Ryōan-ji Temple. In the garden of the temple, you find the dead body of a young woman and instantly become the #1 suspect. Fortunately for you, the second person to arrive at the crime scene - foreign hobbyist investigator Catherine Turner - believes in your innocence and begins to investigate the case to help clear your name.
With some minor standouts, this game plays much like other Japanese-style adventure games. The commands in this game are represented by visual buttons and not mere word commands. One of which is a "Catherine" button, which consults Catherine when she is around and acts as the game's hint system. The "Look" button will make a cursor appear and gives this game some characteristics of point and click gameplay. The "Point" button has no function other than to make the final accusation and end the game.
