Backyard Birds
Description
Backyard Birds is an educational game that is part of MECC's Science Inquiry Collection which is aimed at elementary and junior high science students. In it the player goes on a field trip and has to identify various North American birds. With the player is an assistant who uses his binoculars to observe the birds and then reports back to the player what he has seen. Based on said information the player has to figure out which bird it is. There are seven categories of information that the player can ask the observer to report back on: size, bill, tail, feet, wings, food and field marks. All the observations can then be entered into a record and based on that a list of birds that match can be shown.
In addition to the game there is also a field guide included in the program that shows all available information for all birds that are present in the game. It also includes a glossary that explains related words.
