Bye Sweet Carole

Bye Sweet Carole is a 2D horror puzzle-platformer with a hand-drawn, animated aesthetic inspired by early 20th-century Disney films. Set in Edwardian England, the story follows Lana Benton, a young orphan investigating the mysterious disappearance of her friend Carole Simmons. Her search leads her from the oppressive orphanage of Bunny Hall into the surreal realm of Corolla, a parallel world ruled by sinister entities including Mr. Kyn, Velenia, and hordes of corrupted creatures known as tar bunnies. The narrative unfolds across shifting realities, alternating between the mundane and the fantastical, as Lana unravels the dark secrets behind Carole’s vanishing and her own connection to the horrors of both worlds.

Gameplay combines side-scrolling exploration, environmental puzzle-solving, and stealth-based survival. Each chapter functions as a self-contained area, often structured like an intricate escape room, where players must manipulate objects, activate switches, and navigate between dimensions to progress. A notable mechanic allows Lana to transform into a rabbit, enabling her to squeeze through tight passages, evade pursuers, or interact with certain elements inaccessible in her human form.
