Days Gone: Broken Road DLC

Days Gone: Broken Road is a post-launch DLC expansion for the Windows version of Days Gone, introducing new gameplay modes and features that extend and diversify the core experience. Central to this expansion is Horde Assault, a survival arcade mode where players face increasingly difficult waves of Freakers, evolved variants, and hostile survivors. Set across familiar regions such as Cascade, Belknap, Lost Lake, and Crater Lake, Horde Assault tasks players with lasting as long as possible while racking up high scores. Players earn progression-based rewards, including never-before-playable characters, cosmetic patches, and a new system of gameplay-altering Injectors.

In addition to Horde Assault, Broken Road introduces Permadeath Mode, offering a high-stakes version of the story campaign. In this mode, players must complete Deacon St. John's journey in a single uninterrupted run without dying. Two difficulty settings are available: full permadeath, which restarts the game from the beginning upon death, and a more forgiving option that resets progress to the beginning of the second act.

The DLC also debuts Speedrun Mode, which challenges players to complete the story campaign as quickly as possible, promoting replayability and competition through time-based performance. Enhancements to Photo Mode are also included, adding a time-of-day adjustment, a three-point lighting system, and new logo overlays, allowing for more creative in-game photography.

On PlayStation 5 all the additional content was slip-streamed by default in the release Days Gone: Remastered with an upgrade option for owners of the PS4 version. The visual enhancements and other improvements were introduced to the base PC version, this DLC only adds the additional content.
