Escape From Manhattan
Description
Escape From Manhattan is a game inspired by the movie Escape From New York. The year is 1999 and Manhattan is now a high security prison containing the world's worst criminals. Now the president's plane has crashed on the island and it's up to the player to go there and get him out.
The game starts with an action sequence where the player has to land his or her glider on the island. This is a Blitz variant where the player has to drop bombs to destroy buildings that prevent the landing.
Once the player has been able to land the game switches to a text driven adventure game. Starting out at the top of a ten floor building the player has to make it to the exit on the bottom floor where a car has to be stolen. Each floor exit is locked with an explosive lock and the player has to find the combination to each. A map shows the player's position (and the exit) on the floor and to make their way around it they type MOVE followed by the direction. There are also objects to be found that the player can pick up with a GET command.
