Five Card Drop

Game cover: Five Card Drop

Description

Five Card Drop is a single-player, keyboard controlled Tetris/Poker hybrid.

The player is faced with a series of falling playing cards which, using the arrow keys, they can guide to a landing spot in the game area. Whereas in Tetris the aim of the game is to make horizontal lines of similar bricks the aim here is to make poker hands either horizontally, diagonally or vertically. Once such a hand has been achieved the cards disappear and the game continues.

Diagonal hands score highest, horizontal hands score moderately while vertical hands score the least. Playing the cards such that two or three hands are completed by the drop of a card scores a bonus. The game has music, sound effects and three game modes:

  • Freeplay: he speed of the dropping cards increases with each round;
  • Survival: The speed of the dropping cards increases with each round and slows with each hand completed;
  • Tournament: In this mode goals are set, i.e. three hands containing two pairs, and the player advances to the next round when the goal has been achieved.
