Four Seasons
Description
Four Seasons is a shareware solitaire game that also goes by the names "Corner Card" and "Vanishing Cross". This game was the developer’s first attempt at Windows programming and they put in every feature they could think of; undo, statistics, auto move, three practice games – these do not count towards the high score table, two methods of scoring - traditional and challenge, and top ten score sheet.
The game plays in a fixed window and is mouse controlled. The window is divided into three regions, on the right are some control buttons and beneath that is score/progress area. On the left are the stock cards and the waste pile, in the centre are nine stations arranged in a 3x3 grid.
The game starts with the deal where one card is dealt to each of the five centre stations – i.e. everywhere except the four corners. The four corners are the foundations upon which all other cards of the same suit are played in an ascending sequence, the deal is completed by playing a card into the top left corner thus giving the game its first foundation card and setting the rank of the remaining foundations. The player adds cards to the four corner foundations in ascending sequence but the remaining five cards are added to in descending sequence irrespective of suit.
