HPL: Nyarlathotep Rising

HPL: Nyarlathotep Rising is a narrative RPG set in the aftermath of the Wall Street Crash of 1929, as an ancient cosmic entity threatens to reshape humanity’s fate. Drawing inspiration from the works of H.P. Lovecraft, the game follows three protagonists—Mark, a war veteran; Anna, a gifted artist; and Victor, a scholar of arcane knowledge—each of whom navigates a world steeped in mystery, cult activity, and supernatural horror. Players guide these characters through both physical and psychological challenges as they confront the rising influence of Nyarlathotep, a cosmic being seeking rebirth.

The story unfolds across multiple locations, including London, New York, and the rural landscapes of Suffolk, as well as otherworldly realms beyond human comprehension. Players gather clues, artifacts, weapons, and spells while making decisions that shape alliances, conflicts, and personal relationships. The game emphasizes character-driven choices, with each decision affecting not only the protagonist but also the other two characters whose fates are intertwined.

Gameplay revolves around a dynamic choice system that influences the protagonist’s attributes, including Body, Resolution, Spirit, Insight, and Charisma. As knowledge grows, so does the risk of madness, challenging players to question their perception of reality. The branching narrative offers multiple possible endings, reflecting the evolving psychological and existential struggles of the characters.
