Mad Dog

Description

Mad Dog is an add-on for Microsoft Flight Simulator 98 that focuses on one aircraft and its variants, the McDonnell Douglas Super 80 Series. These planes are short to medium range jet airliners with a high tail and twin, rear-mounted, engines, they began operational service in 1980 with Swissair and were superseded by the MD-90 Series in 1999. This product features:* new sounds recorded in the cockpit of an MD-82

  • an accurately modelled instrument panel with working Primary Flight Display, Navigation Display, Alitmeter, Flight Annunciator, Airspeed indicator, Thrust Rate Computer, Radio Stack, and Power Plant controls
  • Other features include an accurate power plant startup procedure, cargo & passenger loading procedures complete with hostess announcements, take off and landing data sheets, differing take-off configurations depending on the plane's load/weight;
  • Active scenery which gives the player an animated pushback procedure, radar calls, and other planes in the sky
  • Plus the following aircraft all of which are present in two forms, with either a standard instrument panel or with an expert instrument panel.
    • The MD-82 in the following liveries AirLAGO, Alitalia, Crossair, Finnair, SAS, Spanair
    • the MD-83 in the liveries of AOM, Aero Lloyd, Edelweiss, Finnair, SAS, Spanair
    • The MD-87 dressed as Finnair, Iberia, SAS, SAS (new livery), Spanair
    • The MD-88 flying the colours of Aviaco
    • Also on the CD is a demo version of Lago's Italy 98 scenery package and Microsoft's Patch Set 1 for Microsoft Flight Simulator 98, Flight Shop Converter for Microsoft Flight Simulator 98, together with details of many other flight simulator add-ons.

In order for the instrument panels to work Mad Dog needs the following Flight Simulator settings:* International: Units of measure = Metric (Altimeter feet)

  • Instruments: Display indicated airspeed The installation process warns of this and gives the user the option to change the settings manually or to change them automatically as the install process ends. Inside the box the CD is contained in clear jewel case with no inlays, there is a sticker on the case with a product activation key that is needed by the install process. The product installs in either English, German or Italian but, while the installed LAGO menu will be in the chosen language, all the in-flight audio messages are in English.

In addition to the game manual, the product also comes with four ring bound cards containing the checklists and a ring-bound Instrument Operations Manual.
