Merlin

Merlin is a chess program. The AI uses a Swapping Off Material Analyzer (SOMA) approach to finding the best move. Initially the program was written in FORTRAN on a mainframe computer but it was later ported to Z80 Assembly to run on the Nascom 2 computer. Merlin X played at the 1983 European Microcomputer Chess Championship.
