Next Shift

Next Shift is a homage to the Nintendo Game and Watch handheld Mario Bros. In this version, you control Henrique and his clone simultaneously and must ensure the Spectrum Next computers are constructed and packaged in time.

Both Henriques can move only up and down and once they have caught a component from the end of a conveyor belt, they will automatically drop them down to the next conveyor belt. The Nexts are seen going through their various production stages, starting at a bare board, then a cased Next, then a boxed Next, then finally in a shipping box. Once you've loaded five Nexts, you can have a well-earned relief break before the next run. Unlike in Mario Bros. where if something drops off a conveyor belt and breaks, the rest of the items carry on, here the entire wave resets, so all remaining items on the conveyors will disappear. You get three lives and no continues. The game ends when you drop 3 Nexts.
