Phantomasa: Redux

Game cover: Phantomasa: Redux

Description

Phantomasa: Redux is an unofficial modern take on the 1993 game Phantomasa made for the 2007 CEZ remakes competition. The player controls the female android Phantomasa as she infiltrates the home of Phantomas. The game consists of several single-screen rooms where a lever needs to be reached to complete the level. Visually the game sports a much more modern look, but the levels are also reworked with entirely new designs.

The core mechanics are still present. Phantomasa needs to carefully navigate a platform environment with moving parts and blocks she can move by jumping into them. These moving blocks often need to be in an exact position to create the perfect platform sequence to reach the lever. It is possible to get stuck, not being able to move the platforms, and then the level needs to be restarted. There are also many enemies and these drain the character's health meter when colliding. The platform is made more difficult as a straight upwards jump is not possible, Phantomasa will always jump in a slight curve in the direction she is facing, even when standing still.

After the initial set of levels there is a second set where time pressure is added because acid drops down from the ceiling, slowly filling up the room. A password is provide after each level to be entered in the main menu to continue playing. Five lives are provided.
