Pork Barrel

Description

Pork Barrel is a political simulation game where the player takes the role of a member of congress in the House of Representatives. The aim is to get re-elected and thereby be able to continue with the game. Most of the game involves voting on different bills. After showing information on the district's voters and the current unemployment rate, the game starts out with budget hearings where the player votes on how much money each department should receive. For each department there are two amounts to choose between.

This is followed by roll call voting where the player is represented with a number of bill and has to vote yes or no (or absent) on each. For each bill the public opinion and the opinions of various lobbies are shown. After two years the player gets to choose how to spend the campaign funds by deciding how much should be used for each advertising media (TV, newspapers, billboards etc.). Once done the results are shown and if re-elected the game continues.
