Recovery Search & Rescue Simulation
Description
Recovery Search & Rescue Simulation is a single-player mission based game set in a wilderness park. In this game the player takes the part of a park ranger and they undertake missions around the park. In the early missions they are a trainee ranger but as they progress through the game they become a full ranger and the missions become more complex.
There are three levels of difficulty and fifty or so missions in this game. Most missions involve going into the park to find objects, early missions involve finding litter left by tourists, a boy's lucky cap and an antique pocket watch while later missions involve finding missing tourists and snakes that escaped from a crashed plane. Initially the player can only play mission one as all the other missions are locked. Once mission one has been played, or attempted, mission two is unlocked and so-on. All missions are timed and some missions take place at night time. The player walks or runs around the park but for long distances they use the S.A.R. bike. When the player locates an injured hiker they use their radio to call in a helicopter for evacuation, however the player does not get to fly the chopper.
The game is keyboard controlled but can also be played using the keyboard to move and the mouse to navigate, it can be played in a window or in full screen mode. The game also included a mission editor and when it was released Excalibur's website had official missions to download together with a place where players could upload their missions for others to download and play.
