Runemagic Series: Adventure One - The Secret River

Runemagic Series: Adventure One - The Secret River is a text roleplaying adventure game for the BBC Micro.

The object of this adventure is to locate and drink from the magical green river which will increase the strength of anyone who partakes. This river flows through the center of a large cavern deep underground, heavily guarded by trolls.

The player creates a character to be used over several adventures. During the character creation process, the player randomly rolls for strength, size, power, constitution, intelligence, and dexterity. The player also has an attack bonus, search room skill, hit points, and cash in hand. The player also buys weapons and armor for their character, as well as spells to aid in the quest.

The game primary plays as a text adventure, where commands are via VERB NOUN entry, but as the player explores they may engage in combat with a variety of enemies. During combat, the player and opponent take turns automatically attacking, but the player can flee if combat goes poorly.
