Game cover: Swords and Sorcery

Description

Swords and Sorcery is a 1-player roleplaying game for the BBC Micro.

In the far away land of Irium, the princess cast a spell of banishment on the wicked sorcerer Brogfelt. Just before being struck, he managed to reverse the spell, turning the princess into a diamond. Brogfelt found sanctuary within the Dungeons of Terror, and broke the diamond into four parts, hiding them amongst the monsters of the dungeon. The King, distraught, has offered half his land to anyone who can retrieve the four crystals. The player has approached the King who has offered three prisoners to serve as their companion as they enter the dungeon themselves.

The player receives three randomly generated characters defined by strength, magic ability, carrying weight, and treasure. There are nine levels of game difficulty, and the player is given the location of the four crystals at the beginning of the adventure. All commands are via text entry, and the player can move north, south, east, west, up, and down. Treasure items can be picked up to increase final score. Potions offer benefits to characters. During combat, the player automatically wins or loses a fight, losing one character in a failed combat.
