Game cover: Sekien no Inganock: What a Beautiful People

Description

Sekien no Inganock: What a Beautiful People is a Japanese adult fantasy visual novel and the second instalment of Liar-soft's What a Beautiful... series. The series consists of visual novels which are set in the same universe and share some of the same themes but have unconnected narratives. Sekien no Inganock takes place in the fantastical city of Inganock, which has been separated from the outside world ever since a cataclysmic event known as the "Revival". Since that day, the skies of Inganock have featured two suns obscured by a perennial dust and fog, with the city's denizens mutating into half-human creatures resembling those from myths or fairy tales.

The player controls Gii, a man who works as a good Samaritan ten years after the Revival took place, using his medical knowledge, as well as the Phenomenon Equation (a certain kind of magic developed by Inganock's Grand Prince), to heal the city's sick residents. While many of Inganock's people have changed on the outside, sprouting wings, fur, or other appendages, Gii has only changed on the inside, gaining an increased understanding of ailments and how to treat them. When he meets a girl named Kia in need of help, he decides to take her under his wing, leading to unforeseen consequences.

The game features a mostly linear story, with only occasional moments where the player is prompted to select one of several options on screen which will determine how Gii will react to a certain situation. Rather than causing the story to branch into a different route, making the wrong choice may instead lead to a bad ending. Each of the game's chapters also contains a minigame called "Inner Voice" (心の声) that involves clicking through the inner thoughts of the characters and selecting the correct ones. The game features Japanese voice acting for significant characters, including the protagonist, and contains scenes with explicit sexual content.
