Shinigami no Kiss wa Wakare no Aji

Shinigami no Kiss wa Wakare no Aji is a Japanese adult visual novel covering the story of Makoto Amamiya, a young man haunted by the death of his first love in a tragic accident ten years ago. Despite the time that's passed, Makoto remains unable to move past the accident, blaming himself for the death of his friend. However, his life changes when he is visited by a shinigami named Kohaku who warns him that he too will die soon.

In the role of Makoto, the player must make choices which may cause the story to branch into different routes and result in different endings. The game contains three routes, one for each of the heroines that Makoto may pursue relationships with: his little sister Shizuku, his boss's daughter Honoka, and the shinigami Kohaku.

Whilst a erotic visual novel first and foremost, the game covers topics of self-harm, suicidal thoughts and a literal interpretation of Freud's Thanatos theory, as Makoto discovers he can see a goddess of death who signals that his life is approaching its end.
