Description
Smash Hits!: Ultimate Pop Quiz is a DVD game for one to four players. The format of the game is loosely based on an awards ceremony with players receiving awards. The single player consists of twenty questions, worth one or two points, and is over either when all questions have been asked or when twenty points have been scored. The multiplayer game ends when twenty points have been scored. The game is fully voiced at 'menu level' - in other words it uses standard phrases such as 'Your turn player one', 'Choose a question type from the following options', 'You've chosen Love Songs - How romantic' and suchlike but all the questions are text that must be read.
In the quiz players answer a series of multiple choice questions using their DVD remote control to choose one of the available answers.
There are eight question categories - Pop Groups; Solo Artists; Love Songs; Rap & R 'n B; Dub & Dance; Rock & Indie; One Hit Wonders; and Retro however in each turn the player is only offered a choice of three. Within each category there are five types of question - Videostar: watch a video lip and answer a question; Jukebox: listen to a snatch of a song and answer a question; Photocall; here the question is based on a photograph; Pod Selecta: where the questions are based on song titles and are timed; and Take Two: which is based on duos.
No pen and pencil is required for this game as it automatically keeps the score.
