The Ultimate Pop Quiz
Description
The Ultimate Pop Quiz is a quiz for up to four players/teams played over five rounds (called stages in this game).
The five rounds are:
- Stage One: Beat The Bouncers
- Stage Two: Get Gigging
- Stage Three: The Stage Is Set
- Stage Four: The Stadium Tour
- Stage Five: The Backstage Pass
The questions get harder as the player(s) progress through the stages. Each stage may contain the following types of question:
- General Knowledge: Who is engaged to who?, who joined/left this band? and so on.
- Guess Who: Identify an artist or group from a distorted image.
- Sounds Like A Hit: Identify the song.
- Chart Positions: Two songs by the same artist but which rose highest?
- Wax Lyrical: The question may give a line from a song and asks which song is it from, or it could ask something like, "This song is about going on holiday but where to?"
- The Gallery: These questions show pictures and ask a related question.
In each round players take turns to answer timed multiple choice questions. The faster a player answers a question the more points they score, answering a question in less than five seconds scores five points while answering in less than 10 seconds scores two points and answering in less than 15 seconds scores just one point.
20 points are needed to progress to Stage Five and, to beat the game, a player must score five Stage Five points.
For each question the player will have a 'Rescue' option which will either swap the question for another or it will grant them extra time to answer, however a player can only use this option three times per game.
Should there be a tie at the end of Stage Five, the game will enter a sudden death round.
There is no guest to host the quiz so the instructions and the questions have to be read as there is no voiceover. The game keeps score so there is no need for pencils and pieces of paper.
