Spooks & Spiders

Spooks and Spiders is a 1-player arcade game for the BBC Micro.

The player controls a character who moves laterally, jumps a short distance, and climbs up and down ladders. The goal is to collect the key and open all of the doors to find the imprisoned damsel.

The player faces dangers including ghosts and spiders. Spiders can be defeated by jumping on them, but ghosts can only be safely jumped over. Ghosts will later turn into skulls, which are faster moving than ghosts. All the monsters move up and down ladders and along platforms.

The player has 1000 time units to reach the key, after which one door will have an arrow appear under it. The player must reach and unlock this door within 500 time units. When a door is unlocked, the player has 500 time units to reach the next indicated door. The final door will contain the damsel. If the player runs out of time or touches an enemy they lose a life.

When the player loses a life, previously unlocked doors remain open, but the player must collect a new key.
