Staircase Stampede

Staircase Stampede is a 1-player arcade game for the BBC Micro.

The player guides Humphrey up and down stairs trying to paint all of the steps on each level. Played from an isometric perspective, the player moves in four directions, and has to be careful not to fall off the stairs.

The player must avoid Horrible Harold, who moves relentlessly up and down the stairs. Starting on level 3, Helpful Horace will clean off steps that have been painted, and is deadly if the player runs into him. On higher levels, bombs appear, and the player must move onto that square to defuse the bomb before it's too late. Finally, Humphrey must avoid the boot, which relentlessly follows the player.

The player starts with four lives, and gains a life every four levels completed. If time runs out before completing a level, it's game over.
