Starblaster

Starblaster is a 1-player arcade game for the TRS-80 CoCo.

The player controls a small vessel that can rotate and fire 360 degrees, and can also thrust and decelerate. The player must shoot asteroids and alien space vessels. Each asteroid breaks down into two smaller pieces, which break down again into 2 smaller pieces until ultimately destroyed. After each level is cleared, a new field of asteroids occurs. The player has limited number of temporary shields that can be used to defend the vessel.
