Sumerian Six

Game cover: Sumerian Six

Description

Sumerian Six is a real-time tactical stealth game. It blends stealth mechanics, strategic planning, and science fiction into an alternate-history setting inspired by World War II and ancient mythology. Players control the Enigma Squad, a team of eccentric scientific operatives trying to prevent a former ally from handing over dangerous supernatural technology to the Nazi regime.

Set in a world where occult powers and advanced science intertwine, Sumerian Six follows six characters—each with unique, themed abilities—as they complete missions across the globe. The team's central mission is to stop Hans Kammler, a rogue scientist and ex-squad member, from using a mysterious energy source called Geiststoff to empower Nazi forces with supernatural abilities and ancient Sumerian artifacts.

Gameplay is presented from an isometric perspective and emphasizes tactical planning over brute force in the tradition of the Commandos series. Each mission plays out like a puzzle: players must sneak through heavily guarded Nazi compounds, disable enemies, and use each squad member’s tools and abilities creatively. For example, Rosa Reznick can deploy paralytic darts, while Wojtek—a literal werebear—can tear enemies apart with brute strength. Other characters bring chemical gadgets, flash bombs, or psychological tricks to the table, making success dependent on thoughtful coordination and timing.

Players often face missions with limited character availability, adding to the challenge and requiring improvisation based on who's present. Some situations clearly benefit from an absent teammate’s skills, but players must adapt and experiment with what's available—encouraging replayability and tactical flexibility.

Like other stealth games, enemy vision cones and patrol patterns are key mechanics. Guards can detect players differently depending on movement or action visibility, creating layered opportunities for sneaking, distractions, or coordinated takedowns. A “pause and queue” system allows players to synchronize complex actions across team members—distracting one guard while another character sneaks up from behind, for instance.

Each mission rewards stealth, speed, and efficiency. Optional objectives like time limits or avoiding detection encourage repeated runs. Character abilities improve over time, with RPG-style progression tied to performance during missions. A quick save and instant reload system supports trial-and-error play, helping players refine their strategies without the frustration of long downtime.
