The Lair of the Kraken

The Lair of the Kraken is a text adventure for the TRS-80 CoCo.

Barely eking out a living as a fisherman, one day you are out rowing when you hear a sweet sound coming from behind a rock. You investigate, and find it's the singing of a group of mermaids. They cast a water breathing spell on you, and drag you beneath the surface to a deep underwater dungeon. You are tasked with exploring the dungeon and battling sea creatures in a quest to find the sword of the Merman Andon. This sword is needed to kill the Kraken.

At the beginning of each game, the player rolls a random character, equipment, and stats. Each turn, the player can move through the passageways and rooms of the dungeon. A map is provided to guide the player. Each turn, the player encounters an enemy that they can fight or run from. Combat occurs automatically, and the player can potentially pick up items or find treasure.
