Tiberium

Description

Tiberium is a cancelled first-person shooter that was to be part of the Tiberium universe of the Command & Conquer franchise. It was set in 2058, after the events of Kane's Wrath, and featured some designs recycled from the production of Tiberium Wars.

The player would take control of GDI field commander Ricardo Vega, protagonist of the Tiberium Wars tie-in novel and nephew of Nod warlord General Vega from Tiberian Sun. Uniquely, the game would feature a single weapon, the modular GD-10 rifle, which was to feature multiple firing modes/ammo types. Additionally, Vega could give orders to other GDI units (from soldiers to mechs) and call in for reinforcements. The game's storyline is largely unknown, but it prominently featured parts of the Brotherhood of Nod that collaborated with GDI and fought against it, as well as the alien Scrin race that had a different overall design than in Tiberium Wars. There was also a resource gathering method - finding Tiberium fissures would allow spikes to be constructed upon them for processing, giving the player a new squad slot.

The game was announced in early 2008, but cancelled late in that year as Electronic Arts deemed it did not meet their quality standards. A large number of the game's concept art, promo screenshots and renders survived on the portfolio pages of the game's artists and on fan sites, but gameplay footage is scarce.
