Uncanny Valley

Description

Uncanny Valley is a single-player survival horror adventure game. The story follows Tom, a security guard who takes a new night shift position at a remote research facility. Each night, he explores different areas of the complex, completing his patrol duties while uncovering the unsettling history of the organization that once operated there. As Tom investigates further, he experiences strange visions and encounters threats that blur the line between reality and nightmare. The player’s decisions influence the course of events, leading to multiple possible outcomes.

Gameplay is presented as a side-scrolling 2D exploration system with pixel art visuals. The player can move Tom through different environments, interact with objects, collect items, and operate machinery. Each shift offers a limited amount of time, requiring the player to prioritize which areas to investigate before Tom must return to his quarters to rest.

There is no traditional combat system, but Tom can encounter hostile threats. In these situations, the player must choose between evasion, hiding, or attempting to use limited tools to defend themselves. Injuries persist between days, meaning damage to Tom’s health can carry long-term consequences and alter future scenarios. Resource management is also important, as certain items are necessary to unlock paths or uncover story elements. Exploring thoroughly can reveal more of the backstory, but avoiding danger may keep Tom safer at the cost of leaving mysteries unsolved.
