Avium

Description
Avium is a single-player role-playing game with a focus on shooting mechanics and set in an open world. It features both linear, story-driven levels and large-scale open areas for exploration. The game includes a roughly three-hour main campaign, with the option to reduce playtime by skipping cut-scenes.
Gameplay is divided between narrative-focused missions and open-world traversal. In linear levels, players engage in close-quarters combat while navigating areas populated by civilian NPCs, with the game allowing but not encouraging collateral damage. In open-world zones such as Central Avium, Central Avium Desert, and the Southern Jungles, players explore non-linear environments, complete objectives, defeat enemies, and collect resources to gain experience points (XP), which are used to advance the storyline and unlock abilities.
Central to the game’s mechanics is the Prometheus War-Suit, a customizable exosuit that allows for advanced mobility (including flight and wall-dashing) and offers a range of offensive capabilities. These include firearms, elemental attacks, melee combat, and a magic system, as well as telekinetic and teleportation-based abilities. The War-Suit can be tailored to different combat styles, including stealth and direct engagement.
The game also includes interactable NPCs with individual backstories, a leveling system, and a range of weapons and items found through exploration. The environment contains hidden lore and optional narrative elements, which can be uncovered through exploration and interaction. Avium saves player progress automatically after major actions such as gaining XP or completing quests.
The story of Avium is set in a speculative future where technological progress and enforced global unity have significantly altered human society. The Republic of Avium, the setting's central government, promotes a vision of stability and comfort through technological means, while traditional political, religious, and moral frameworks are absent. The narrative explores themes related to identity, governance, and societal transformation in a post-war civilization.
